Ann Hoang

I am a developer and founder. I am passionate about the intersection of technology and social justice and advancing women in tech.

Past and Present

Currently I am a Senior Development Lead for Ferrilli and founder of the website STEMinist. Previously I was a Senior .NET Developer for Robins Kaplan LLP, a law firm in Minneapolis, MN; a Senior Developer Analyst for the Multnomah County Health Department in Portland, OR; a Lead Software Engineer for Educational and Community Supports, a research unit within the University of Oregon’s College of Education; a Senior Web Developer for Paula’s Choice, a growing cosmetics company with a strong e-commerce presence; and a Technical Consultant for Onyx Software where I worked onsite for clients in Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado and Texas.

How an English Major Became a Techie

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and started completing grad school applications my senior year when I read an editorial by Martha Wertheim in Glamour magazine. She wrote about the underrepresentation of women in tech which spurred me to enroll in an “Intro to C” programming class. I aced it. I enjoyed it. The rest is Geek Girl History.

More Geekery

In my spare time I enjoy baking, coxing, running and learning the accordion.
